ProForm Elliptical

ProForm elliptical machines are actually made by Icon Health & Fitness. ProForm–along with Nordic Track, Reebok, Weslo and Weider–is a subsidiary of Icon Health & Fitness, one of the largest retail fitness companies.
ProForm Elliptical Basics
Because ProForm ellipticals are made by such a big company you can find them at most chain fitness stores. The other benefit of them being made by a big company is that they have over 200 engineers working on new designs and updates for their fitness products.
ProForm fits in the budget to mid-range elliptical market. A ProForm elliptical machine will generally cost between $400 and $1,000, although they do have some models over $1,000.
A ProForm elliptical trainer is considered by many to be a light-duty elliptical machine. They are good for people who want to simulate walking or for the occasional user. They are not as good for runners or serious athletes, for these types of uses you may want to look into another brand of elliptical probably in a higher price range.

ProForm Elliptical
The nice thing about a ProForm is that you can get an elliptical at a moderate price but one that’s better than a true budget elliptical. ProForm elliptical trainers tend have a lot of features for the price, some features you usually find in higher-end models, so in that way they are a good value.
ProForm Elliptical Features
Some of the features they offer include power incline ramps, pre-set workout programs, upper and lower body workout, heart-rate monitors, different stride lengths, oversize pedals, a workout fan, electronics that show your speed, distance, and calories burned, and some are mp3 compatible with a sound system. They even have a model with an interactive video game and one model with a 7 inch flat screen TV and speakers to help keep you entertained while exercising.
ProForm offers both rear drive ellipticals and front drive ellipticals. They also have a few space saver ellipticals; one that even folds up so you can roll it away for easy storage.
But the downside is that many of their units are made with cheap components, which is why they may not be the best for the serious everyday user. They have short warranties, generally 90 days, and once the warranty has expired they don’t have the best service record.
Another thing to consider before buying an elliptical trainer is how many people will be using it. The brand and model you buy should fit the number and heights of the people using it. If it will only be for one person it will be easier, but if multiple people will be using it you will need to get a machine that can withstand that kind of use.
Summary
If you are looking for an eliptical machine to use a few days a week and don’t want to break the bank, but want something better than the low-level budget models a ProForm elliptical might work well for you. If you want a elliptical machine for heavier, more frequent use you may want to try another brand, be prepared to spend a bit more though.
